It is obvious by now that pets make MMO's more bearable. They are your companion, usually as long as you wish, and they will protect you and help you with things. This game takes pets to a whole new level. Since you are a creature yourself, and since variety of creatures is immense in this game, you could make a pet out of almost anything.
You have several choices as to how you will get a pet. They are
completely based on the temperament of the species you choose. As in
reality, some creatures are very friendly right away, while others are
dangerous and probably want to eat you. Most real species can be tamed,
or at least conditioned to be safe around one or more humans.
Taming
To tame a creature, you will probably have to have
to spend time around your target pet, you will probably want to feed
it, and you will want to get it used to your voice. Once it decides
that you are not a threat, you could develop a closer relationship with
it and become its only friend, or you could...
Capturing
capture it using some kind of restraint or cage.
Of course, you don't have to make friends with it to capture it, you
could simply make a humane trap with some bait in it, or you could...
Trading
find a fellow player or pet-taking NPC creature to
buy it from. I am sure the pet trade will be a major one, given the
possibilities. You could trade some food, maybe some stylish clothing,
or anything, but if you haven't got anything to spare, you could
also...
Cooperative Play
play with a friend or meet someone in the
game to play with. Maybe they are faster than you, so you can hop on
its back and ride it like a pet horse. Perhaps you like to role play,
if so, there's nothing stopping you from pretending to be a pet
yourself. You may also summon someone who is waiting in Quick Action
Mode.
Trust
When you have gained someones trust, they can give
you a trust medallion. You can also get an allegiance medallion which
is a sign of obedience. With NPC's, this is equivalent to taming or
breaking. Either way, you now have a tough ally who will aid you in the
harsh world, and keep you company. Optionally, when an ally is nearby,
the trust medallion will appear above it, and/or a medallion that gets
brighter when it is closer will appear at the side of the screen.
